Medical Research Clinic // Cancer Series

We worked with one of the top medical centers in the world to create this 18-video series about advancements in cancer research, treatment, and prevention. Each video deals with a different topic. One of the biggest challenges of the project was diving deep into dense, complex, sometimes highly technical topics, and then finding ways to present them in a digestible, easy to understand way in less than 60 seconds.

The entire series was created for mobile-only viewing, so every video was produced in a vertical aspect ratio from storyboarding to final animation.

There were 18 total videos. Here are some of our favorite moments.

Process: from storyboard to design

Since each video covered a different topic pertaining to cancer that was often very dense, technical, and specific, it was vital that we made sure we were getting the concepts right before we got into animation. So each video included a detailed storyboarding phase. These simplified, black-and-white storyboards often ended up being quite close to the final designs.

Process: from vector artwork to final design

Then, once the core of the design was established, we would take the vector artwork and do a final pass for color, texture, shading, and other fine details.
